Spotify is to open a permanent sales office in Manchester as part of plans to scale “aggressively” across Europe.
It’s the first time that Spotify UK and Ireland’s advertising business has created a team with the specific remit to identify and drive revenue outside of London.
The Sales Hub will be led by Spotify UK Director of Sales, Clare Beddow. It will initially be staffed by 2 Account Directors, with an Account Manager expected to join later in the year.
“2021 marked an inflection point for Spotify where we became a dual revenue stream company. We are aggressively scaling our team in the UK as well as other key markets in EMEA, and we’re excited to build our presence in Manchester as it presents strong potential,” explained Sally Keane, Head of Advertising, Spotify Northern Europe UK.
“We know the importance of having people on the ground who really understand the region, to be able to continue to deliver for our advertising partners. We expect to bring you more updates about an office space in due course.”
Spotify said that advertising will represent “at least 20%” of its revenue over the next few years and that the Manchester operation would be a “significant” part of its European expansion.
