San Francisco summer summit success as losses down 10% at Manchester tech unicorn

Matillion generated more than 7,400 leads at the summer’s Snowflake Summit 2026, with support from The Studio of Possible. The campaign also engaged about one in three attendees over the four-day event.

Centred on MAIA, Matillion’s AI productivity assistant, the effort included a flagship stand experience, live activations and executive sessions aimed at senior decision-makers.

Dublin-based agency The Studio of Possible worked with Matillion on the concept, creative direction, stand design and visitor engagement, and at the centre of the activation was the MAIA Challenge, a buzzwire-style interactive experience in which delegates raced against the assistant while being introduced to common problems faced by data teams. The wider campaign also featured roaming brand ambassadors known as MAIA Beekeepers, branded merchandise and an executive area called The Hive, which hosted demonstrations for senior executives – Matillion landed Snowflake Summit’s Most Creative Build Award for the third year in a row.

The summit results came as the Manchester tech unicorn announced that losses were down and cash burn reduced in its latest filing at Companies House following a renewed focus on efficiency and expense management as the business progresses towards becoming a true AI data automation platform.

Matillion was labelled a unicorn in 2021 after securing $150m in a series E funding round, its second triple-digit round of that year, bringing the total amount raised to $310m at a valuation of $1.5bn.

The business is currently in the process of transitioning from an on-premises, right-of-use license model product (METL) to a set of true Al SaaS offerings through its Maia platform.

Maia, which currently includes Maia Foundation and Maia Team, is an AI data automation platform powered by autonomous AI agents that build, maintain, and evolve data products, eliminating time consuming manual data work.

In its latest accounts for the year to 31 January 2026, Matillion Ltd made a loss before tax of £20.7m, down 10.3 per cent from 2025. Revenue for the year was £67.8m compared to £70m in 2025.

The company said in the filing: “As we adopt a more consistent revenue recognition practice aligned with a SaaS model, our reported results will better represent the true momentum of the business.”
