Salford Lads & Girls Club has been working with Carbon Creative to update its digital presence.
The rejuvenated venue, which was saved following a major fundraising campaign, has received heightened interest recently, not least through Manchester United using it as the backdrop for its new kit launch.

MediaCity-based Carbon Creative had just 6 weeks to complete a new website and brand refresh.
This was to support its ongoing work with young people in Salford and reflecting what the Club is today – a working youth organisation serving young people and the community.
The brand identity preserved its much-loved rose and arch that have represented the Club for generations. But Carbon explained that the refresh gave them more flexibility across print, digital and merchandise.
The arch is used as a framing device throughout the new site and now has its own standalone logo alongside the core rose mark. The typography has been modernised for legibility, whilst nodding to the era the Club was founded in.
“I’ve really loved working on this project. My partner is from Salford and music is a huge part of our lives, especially The Smiths – so I already knew the club and some of its history before we started. But getting to work with the team and understand more about what the club does today has given me a completely different appreciation for it,” said Ell, Senior Digital Project Manager at Carbon Creative.
“There are so many different sides to its story, from the music and football connections to its heritage and, most importantly, the work it continues to do with young people in Salford. It’s been really rewarding helping to bring all of that together through the new website. And we’re not finished yet; we’ve got a Phase 2 planned where we’ll be able to push the site and its storytelling even further, which I’m really excited to get stuck into!”
Carbon donated £4,818 of hours to Phase 1, with a further time donation planned for Phase 2.
The Grade II listed building has provided sporting, social and community activities for local young people since 1903 and the brief was to appeal to young people and parents looking for activities, as well as heritage visitors and venue bookings.
“Working with Carbon Creative has been such a positive experience for Salford Lads & Girls Club. From the very beginning, they took the time to really understand who we are, what we stand for and what makes the Club so special,” added Deena Mahmoud, Commercial Operations Manager at Salford Lads & Girls Club.
“They’ve helped us bring together our heritage, our work with young people and the community, our culture and music, our events and our commercial opportunities in a way that feels much more like us. The new website has given us a much stronger digital presence and, more importantly, a platform that properly reflects where Salford Lads & Girls Club is today while still celebrating everything that has made the Club what it is for 123 years.”
