Being the only UK region that’s home to three continuing dramas, it’s no surprise that as well as Waterloo Road, the North West nominations also recognised Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, which is currently celebrating thirty years on our screens.

There was also a strong field of factual, documentary and sport programming such as Four Kings, which gave viewers access into the lives of four of Britain’s best boxers: Frank Bruno, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank and Lennox Lewis, and The New Generation, offering an intimate look behind the scenes with England football’s brightest young stars.

Commenting on this year’s list, Cameron Roach, chair of the RTS North West, said:

“Despite the challenges the broadcast sector faces, this list of nominations demonstrates the breadth and range of genres and outstanding programmes being made here in the North West, which is recognition of the incredible talent working in the region. The RTS is an opportunity for the programme making community to come together and continue to build a resilient and ambitious network for future growth and collaboration.”

The awards will be presented at an ceremony on November 21st November at Manchester’s Kimpton Clocktower Hotel.
