Plans submitted for “state of the art” events venue in Greater Manchester

EventCity has submitted plans to create a state-of-the-art events venue in TraffordCity.

It comes following a public consultation earlier this year about the move of EventCity from Barton Dock Road to nearer the Soccerdome site.

The new venue would include a central foyer with breakout space and a  reconfigured entrance hall. Its main hall would feature divides for smaller events and conferences and will have 2000 free parking spaces.

“It has long been an ambition for the business to redesign the setting into a more dedicated space,” explained Neil Lees, Acting Chief Executive at EventCity and Deputy Chairman of the Peel Group.

“We’re committed to offering our clients and visitors the very best experience, and we’re confident that our plans for the new venue will do just that, whilst still providing the second largest conference and events space outside of London.”

The tripartite proposal with Peel L&P would see the current site turned into a new wellbeing resort, Therme Manchester, as well as the creation of a new football facility.

EventCity would leave its current location and temporarily cease operations in July 2020, before the new venue opens 2 months later.
