Pitstop Productions

PitStop Productions, which provides audio services to the gaming industry, has expanded its HQ in Barnsley and opened a new studio in Croydon.

The expansion in South Yorkshire involves the opening of a second building with more recording and capture facilities. The Croydon operation will be able to handle voice recording, facial capture and motion capture for games developers.

PitStop, which provides sound design, voiceover and casting, music and animation services to the video games, TV, film and entertainment industries, now has nine recording studios, including offices in London, New York and Los Angeles.

It plans to expand its team from 30 to more than 45 over the next few years and invest up to £1m in new facilities and staff.

The company has previously handled the voice production for acclaimed titles such as Larian’s Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Aardman’s 11-11: Memories Untold. The expansion has been backed by Enterprising Barnsley, the business support arm of Barnsley Council.

John Sanderson, founder and managing director at PitStop Productions, said: “The intention of our expansion is to increase our editorial capacity to handle the growing amount of exciting material we are being asked to create at our mocap studios in Croydon and across our international network of studios.

“We plan to invest up to one million pounds over the next three years in state-of-the-art editing facilities; and to recruit additional graduate-level sound designers and editors.

“The new meeting rooms we create will also mean we can now welcome our clients from all over the world to our company head office in Barnsley.”

Enterprising Barnsley’s Judy Sidebottom added: “PitStop Productions is an outstanding example of an innovative international company which has chosen Barnsley as its base. It’s a multi-award-winning company and needs a head office which can accommodate the growth of its business.

“We welcome PitStop’s expansion which will lead to the creation of more high-skilled jobs in animation, voice and music production.”
