Sage, the leading Newcastle technology firm which provides integrated accounting, payroll, and payment systems, has completed its acquisition of Brightpearl.

The Bristol-based retail tech firm originally sold a 17% stake to Sage at the end of 2020. In December 2021 it was announced that Sage would pay a further £225 million to take its remaining stake.

Now the deal has completed, Sage will extend the ecommerce offering of Intacct, the Sage product which provides cloud finance software that automates an array of accounting services.

“We have made great strides in providing the technology businesses need to digitally transform their organisations today and for tomorrow,” said Dan Miller, EVP of Sage Intacct.

“For Sage Intacct customers, the value of being part of the Sage digital network is truly coming to bear through the AI technology we have put in their toolkit to help them streamline their work and save them valuable time – whilst providing their customers with an even better service.

“The acquisition of Brightpearl sees us doubling down on our vertical strategy to bring these benefits to retail eCommerce organisations, expanding our ability to increase the role technology plays in the world’s leading businesses.”

In October, Sage acquired Manchester fintech GoProposal, the company’s fourth acquisition in a year.
