New online learning platform launches to help GCSE students with exams

Yipiyap - On Demand

A new online learning platform has been created by young tutors in the North West aimed at helping students who need to resit their GCSE exams.

Young tutors at the Altrincham-based organisation Yipiyap have created the new platform, On Demand, to provide GCSE students with the opportunity to create a bespoke online learning programme according to their revision needs.

14 Yipiyap peer tutors, aged between 18 and 24, each filmed a series of five minute sessions on specific maths and English topics for the platform.

20-year-old Yipiyap tutor Amy Redman heads up the new platform, who has researched, coached and edited each session.

Resit students across the UK will be able to select the sessions they need at a convenient time that suits them through the platform. The On Demand platform can also be utilised by teachers looking to add variety to resit classes.

Amy Redman (pictured, right) said: “This programme of bite-size sessions has been created based on feedback from our college partners, who have been successfully working with our peer tutors to help GCSE students achieve higher grades.

“It gives the learners a bit more control over their own content and schedule, which is incredibly empowering, and can be accessed at any time – in or outside of lessons – so is not restricted to school or college timetables.”

Yipiyap founder Anne Morris (pictured, left), added: “I have been so impressed with the team of tutors, led by Amy, who have created and filmed this first-of-its-kind approach to GCSE resits.

“This will help so many young people across the UK, and it has also been a fantastic thing for the tutors themselves to do, expanding their skillsets so much.”
