New Leeds business platform will ‘support inclusive growth’ and ‘redistribute wealth’ in the city

A new donation and member platform that aims to support inclusive growth for Leeds by redistributing wealth through local projects launches this week.

The 1% for the City founding team comprises Mike Quate and Sat Mann from recently launched consultancy ByDiffusion, Guy Utley from TALL Agency, Anna Ashford from ALT Legal, Caroline Broad from Clarion Solicitors, Sarah Hex from Mercia, and Hannah Corne from St Gemmas Hospice. The team plans to form a partnership and potential funding plan with Leeds Community Foundation.

The manifesto for 1% for the City is to champion businesses to become a force for good, create a community of businesses committed to growing a more inclusive economy, increase collective giving to charitable and social causes in the city, provide a platform for businesses to centrally contribute their financial donations, and illustrate the impact made by businesses supporting the 1% model.

Both ByDiffusion and 1% for the City were officially launched last night (March 20) at an event with support from Tom Riordan, chief executive of Leeds City Council, and Eve Roodhouse, chief officer – culture and economy at Leeds City Council.

ByDiffusion offers a range of support and advisory services, including business and change strategy, product and delivery management, service and user-centered design, leadership and team coaching, executive search, and fractional leadership support. It will work with businesses of all sizes, leveraging its partner and associate network.

Guy Utley, creative director & founder of Leeds based TALL Agency, who helped form the brands, said: “The team and I have been incredibly excited to get behind both of these brands, and we are hugely passionate about our involvement with 1% for the City. The energy, ideas and no ego approach to this are just next level.”
