FOD Mobility Group is to focus on its core ground transportation business and move away from its mobility as a service platform.
It’s the first major strategic decision by new Group CEO, Joe Howick.
Last year, the Shipley-based tech firm, appointed separate CEOs for its two operations (Mobilleo and Fleetondemand), with Howick, the former Chief Commercial Officer of Fleetondemand, becoming the head of that part of the business, before taking on the group CEO role.
He explained that he would be streamlining operations to “concentrate 100%” of the company’s efforts on the ground transportation offering.
“After a comprehensive review of our business strategy and market opportunities, we have decided to sharpen our focus on our core strengths. The vehicle rental market offers significant growth potential, with projections indicating robust expansion over the next few years, driven by increasing demand for flexible, short and mid-term vehicle access among businesses,” said Howick.
“Fleetondemand is uniquely positioned to capitalise on this trend, having already experienced record growth over the last few years in the adoption of our services from new customer wins in the UK, and from newly acquired customers in target markets across Europe. On top of the company’s planned organic growth, we are also considering the potential to make strategic acquisitions to further strengthen our market position.”
Fleetondemand includes its tech platform GT Suite, which integrates multiple forms of ground transportation, including vehicle rental, taxi, car sharing and pool fleet management services.
It also has a tailored white label solution for its GT Suite platform, which has seen an increase in demand from major rental suppliers, fleet operators and trade organisations looking to provide bespoke, end-to-end vehicle rental management services directly to their own customers.
Upcoming product launches include an enhanced version of its on-demand and pre-booked taxi service FOD Ride; and a new FOD Pool service to offer businesses centralised booking and management of their own pool fleet vehicles, plus access to flexible mid-term rental vehicles, driver information and detailed management reporting.
The company said they were “considering options” for Mobility as a Service platform, Mobilleo.
