Manchester-based Sports Tours International says it saw a “huge rise” in mobile phone traffic over the Christmas and New Year period.
The online sports travel company is jointly owned by Betfred’s Fred Done and his brother Peter Done, of Peninsula.
It reports that online bookings rose 66%, with web visits as a whole up 47% while smart phones users increased by 83% – or 53% of overall visits.
“Our Christmas sales figures show that people are no longer waiting until the New Year to book their next running or cycling challenge, and health, wellbeing and a more active lifestyle is at the forefront of their minds as they wind down for Christmas,” said Sports Tours International CEO, Chris Bird.
Sports Tours International employs 40 people across its 4 brands, which also include Club La Santa, Whereabouts Holidays and Freewheel Holidays.
