MetStudio campuses coming to Leeds snd Manchester following MetFilm School BIMM merger

Following the successful acquisition of MetFilm School by the BIMM Group earlier this year, BIMM University, which specialises in music, film, performing arts and creative technology, has announced its latest plans, including new campuses in Leeds and Manchester.

BIMM University will be the only awarding body for all new MetFilm School undergraduate and postgraduate students from September 2025. This move places BIMM University, with its 40-year heritage, as a lead provider of film and screen higher education across the UK and Europe.

For current students of MetFilm School and Screen and Film School, there will be no immediate changes. From 2025, students will benefit from an expanded MetFilm School community, with access to campuses in London, Berlin, Birmingham, Brighton, Leeds, and Manchester.

It marks a new era for MetFilm School, which has joined forces with BIMM’s Screen and Film School to operate under the one, MetFilm School brand.

Dara Kilkenny, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Screen and Film at BIMM University, explained: “By combining our strengths, the two schools will create a unique offer, giving all students access to state-of-the-art film studios, industry standard kit, top lecturers, and important industry connections.

“By bringing together each school’s rich history, resources and significant achievements, we are positioning MetFilm School as the market leader in film and screen education across Europe, and the UK.”

BIMM University is committed to bridging the skills gap in the creative sectors, and in response to growing demand internationally for skilled professionals in the creative digital media industries, the group has made a further announcement and unveiled ‘MetStudios’, a new, specialist school focusing on games, animation, and VFX.

MetStudios will become one of Europe’s leading destinations for creative digital education, with campuses already up and running in Brighton and Berlin, it has plans to expand to Bristol, Manchester, London, and Leeds in 2025.

Sam Hope, Dean of Film Faculty at BIMM University, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for BIMM University, MetFilm School, and Screen and Film School. Our unified brand under MetFilm School and the introduction of MetStudios reflect our commitment to delivering world-class education in creative technologies. We are confident that these changes will significantly enhance the learning experience for our students and cement our position as the leader in creative arts education.”

Jonny Persey, director of MetFilm School, added: “Our new home within the BIMM group, and the merger with Screen and Film School has brought together two storied institutions under one banner, creating a learning environment that celebrates the very best of our shared histories. The launch of MetStudios is a bold step forward into creative technology, where the opportunities for our students and graduates are many.”
