Manchester United have announced Snapdragon as their new front-of-shirt sponsor from the start of next season after reaching a deal with parent Qualcomm.
The Snapdragon logo will adorn home, away and third shirts for both the men’s and women’s teams from the start of the 2024/2025 campaign. United did not specify the length of the deal or financial terms, but it has been valued at around a possible world-record £65million per season.
Qualcomm Technologies has an existing partnership with United but this has now been expanded as a result of the agreement.
United’s shirt fronts are currently sponsored by TeamViewer, however United agreed to end this arrangement early, buying back the rights ahead of the planned 2026 expiry by “mutual consent” last December after anger from Team Viewer shareholders over the cost of the deal. Petrus Advisers, who hold a three per cent stake in TeamViewer, wrote a letter criticising the “appalling judgement” of the company in making the five-year deal while the effects of covid were still being assessed.
The world’s current highest front of shirt deal is currently the £60m-a season deal Real Masdrid has with Emirates.
United said in a brief press statement: “Manchester United plc has agreed to an expanded strategic collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc, that will see the Snapdragon brand displayed on the club’s famous shirts.”
Qualcomm Snapdragon was established in November 2007 and makes processors for products including smartphones, PCs, extended reality glasses, gaming devices, wearables, and connected cars.
