As a new wave of famous names head to Australia, ITV has closed its I’m a Celebrity Jungle Challenge Attraction in Salford Quays.

The site was opened by Ant and Dec just 15 months ago, offering people the chance to have the “ultimate jungle encounter.”

“ITV have made the decision to close the IAC Jungle Challenge Attraction as it has become financially unviable going forward,” said ITV in a statement.

“We’d like to express our thanks to the staff at our operator Continuum for their work during the time it has been open.

“Where practical we will seek to redeploy team members across our other attractions operated by Continuum.”

It was managed by Yorks’ Continuum Attractions, which signed a 10 year deal with ITV last year to become its preferred attractions operator. The company also looks after its Coronation Street Tour and weekend tours of Emmerdale Village.

The 2,500sq m space was also seen as a key part of the redevelopment of Peel’s Quayside MediaCity shopping centre.

At the time of its announcement, Jason Pullen, Managing Director of Lifestyle Outlets said:

“Our partnership with ITV is an exciting development in our goal to create a new generation of Outlets by creating unique leisure and shopping destinations with entertainment at their heart.”
