River Capital has announced a six-figure investment through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Flexible Growth Fund to support Dragon Post Ltd in establishing a world class film and TV post-production facility in Liverpool city centre.
The award-winning post-production company, which has more than 25 years of industry experience, aims to create up to seven new full-time positions in the Liverpool City Region while providing comprehensive post-production services for film and television.
Dragon has had a presence in the Liverpool region for the last 18 months and opened its facility in May last year, having invested over £1/4million in the region.
The new facility will feature what is described as the largest 4K Grading Theatre in the North West, alongside a viewing theatre, editing, online, conform, QC and deliverables facilities.
Dragon Post’s Cardiff facility has already established itself as a leader in post-production, having worked on internationally acclaimed projects including Academy Award-winning The Hurt Locker and BAFTA-winning Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, as well as more recent productions featuring Judi Dench, Rebel Wilson and Gerard Butler.
The Liverpool expansion has received backing from Liverpool Film Office, which has encouraged Dragon Post’s entrance into the city. The partnership is intended to ensure the facility is well positioned to serve productions filming in the Liverpool City Region.
Social value and skills pipeline
Beyond job creation, Dragon Post says it is committed to delivering substantial social value, including apprenticeship schemes and work experience opportunities with local schools and universities across the city region.
Jeff Cummins, Investment Manager at River Capital, said: “Dragon Post brings world class post production capabilities to our region, this funding support exemplifies our commitment to assisting businesses in the Liverpool City Region’s priority sectors, creating employment opportunities and establishing important industry partnerships. The strong connection with Liverpool Film Office and the calibre of the management team make this an exciting addition to our creative sector portfolio.”
