Optalysys, a Leeds company developing technology in the field of silicon photonics using light instead of electricity to perform calculations, has appointed former CTO of Arm, Dipesh Patel to the board.
The latest appointment comes just over six months after Optalysys raised £21m in a 2023 series A fundraise and is now gearing up for the next phase of technology development.
Based in California, Patel has first-hand experience in developing new technologies and bringing them to market on a global scale, having spent 25 years at the UK tech champion Arm, a leading technology provider of processor IP. He now advises on several tech investor and incubator boards.
He said: “The work Optalysys is doing has the potential for a step-change in the way we use data today on a global scale, bringing an end to data vulnerability with their secure processing technology. Iʼm delighted to be joining their Board, using my experience to contribute to shaping their success.”
Nick New, CEO at Optalysys added: “Dipesh is a great addition, bringing a wealth of experience for us to tap into – not only has he lived our journey of developing and bringing new tech to market, heʼs built businesses and is now actively involved in the tech investor sector. All areas of expertise I know we will benefit from. We are very much looking forward to working together.”
