Labour deputy leader Lucy Powell joins young Salford footballers to congratulate Salford I’m a Celebrity winner Angry Ginge

Labour’s deputy leader Lucy Powell has joined young Salford football players to congratulate Youtuber and Streamer Angry Ginge after he was crowned winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! for 2025.

The new King of the Jungle, who is from Salford, had watched the show as a child and said it was “a dream come true” to take part in the competition.

Ginge, real name is Morgan Burtwistle, spent just over three weeks in the Australian jungle, enduring rats, cockroaches, and spiders to beat out the likes of Bury’s Lisa Riley and Manchester rapper Aitch and be named the overall winner.

Watching from Salford were kids Ginge coaches at his local club; the Winton Wanderers in Eccles – prior to amassing two million followers online, the 24-year-old played at the club and still coaches their Under-18 Yanited squad.

The club gathered in Salford on Sunday 7 December to watch the final and cheer on Angry Ginge.

Winton Wanderers chairman Lee Egan said Ginge has been a lifelong fan of the show, and knows winning will mean the world to him: “We are very proud of him. It’s a massive achievement for him,” he said. “Just being there is a privilege, but to be named King of the Jungle is something else. He’s grown up watching it, so it’s a dream come true for him.”

Club treasurer Patrick Pollock added that the win will mean just as much to his players. He told ITV News: “We’ve had loads of kids here today who all wanted him to win. Things like this don’t happen around here so to have one of our coaches named King of the Jungle is massive for them.”

Deputy Labour Party leader and Manchester Central MP Lucy Powell also congratulated the 24-year-old social media star from Salford on social media.

She said: “It was a Mancunian series and Manchester prevailed. Well done Ginge (and Aitch and co).”

Celebs Go Dating receptionist Tom Read Wilson was the runner-up while former EastEnders actress Shona McGarty placed third.
