Kids get creative as Michael Carrick Foundation launches fashion fundraiser

The Michael Carrick Foundation has teamed up with youngsters from the Carrick’s Street Reds programme to design a brand-new clothing range to help raise funds for the charity.

On sale from today (March 28), the limited-edition t-shirt and hoodie collection came to life following a recent competition, where participants were invited to submit their own designs to be in with a chance of their entry being included in the final products.

Among the entries received were some unique takes on the creative brief. Some focused on the City of Manchester, incorporating the city’s famous bee icon, skyline, and Mancunian quotes. Others honed in on football, with drawings of nets, boots, and balls, as well as Manchester United’s famous Red Devil mascot, and Old Trafford Stadium.

Foundation founder, ex-Manchester United midfielder and current Middlesbrough FC manager Carrick said: “This competition gave participants a platform to showcase their creative talents outside of sport and it was fantastic to see so many of them taking the time to submit such incredible ideas. It was so difficult to choose a winner, so I had to select two!”

Carrick added: “The proceeds from each sale will go directly to the Foundation and help us to continue to reach those who need it most.”

Carrick’s Street Reds is run in conjunction with Manchester United Foundation and uses the power of football to give young people an opportunity to get involved, learn new skills, and gain qualifications in a supportive and positive environment.

The two winners of the competition each submitted completely different designs, but both embraced Michael Carrick Foundation’s values and the spirit of the beautiful game. The new range comes in a choice of black or white with a tan colour design which combines elements of Manchester, football, and the importance of inclusion, finished off with Michael Carrick’s signature.

To turn the winning designs from paper to reality, the Foundation called upon the help of EVERPRESS, who specialise in helping independent creatives bring their ideas to life.”

EVERPRESS founder, Alex Econs, said: “At EVERPRESS, we’ve always believed in the power of our platform to drive positive change. Since our platform’s inception in 2016, we’ve remained committed to partnering with charitable organisations that share our values, and supporting initiatives like Michael Carrick’s fundraiser aligns perfectly with our mission.

“We’re honoured Michael Carrick chose our platform to launch this campaign to support disadvantaged youth in Manchester and the North East and raise vital funds to ensure that every child has access to football sessions and training. We’re excited to be part of this initiative and look forward to seeing the transformative impact it will have on young lives.”

All proceeds from the campaign will go directly to support the Foundation’s community programmes with the aim of reaching more youngsters than ever before.
