Kate Winslet, Roald Dahl and Luke Littler as Netflix reveals regional slate

Netflix has announced a number of new UK commissions, including a Roald Dahl series shot in the North of England.

Untitled Dahl Stories for Adults is written by Danny Brocklehurst and goes into production across Manchester and the North of England this month.

The 6-part series stars Naomi Scott, Josh Finan, Imelda Staunton, Nicola Coughlan, Toby Jones and Dominic West and is based on a collection of Dahl’s short stories for adults.

The streamer is also about to start filming Beat Luke Littler, confirming that Gary Lineker will host, with Richard Osman as the expert analyst.

The Workerbee production will see 20 players compete against the Warrington teenager to win a £501,000 prize.

Netflix has also revealed that Kate Winslet and Maxine Peake are to star in a television drama written by Jack Thorne.

The Unheard is produced by Sheffield’s Warp Films, Stephen Graham’s Matriarch and Plan B. It tells the story of 2 sisters who go on the run after an act of vengeance goes wrong.

“In the amazingly competitive UK landscape, it’s not good enough to be just ok. You need to swing for exceptional,” said Anne Mensah, Vice President, UK Content.

“Across drama, comedy, entertainment, live and factual programming, our slate underscores the risks we are happy to take and the extraordinary UK creativity we are proud to champion. Bring on 2027, we can’t wait.”
