Dominic Cooper films new Danny Brocklehurst drama in Manchester

Filming has started in Greater Manchester this week for a a new 6-part ITV drama, starring Dominic Cooper and Romola Garai.

Adultery has been written by Danny Brocklehurst, who’s behind the Netflix hit, Fool Me Once, and Brassic for Sky. 

It’s being made by ITV Studios’ backed, Poison Pen, the company set up by former BBC drama boss, Ben Stephenson.

The cast joining Cooper and Olivier Award-winning Garai are Shelley Conn (Gen V, Bridgerton), Matthew McNulty (Domina, Deadwater Fell) and rising stars Johnny Sanpher and Leila Khan.

‘It’s a wonderful privilege to assemble such an amazing cast for Adultery,” said Brocklehurst.

“The characters in our show have complex emotional lives and we needed the very best acting talent to bring them to the screen. I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

The “provocative love story” raises questions about class, grief and the effects of social media, as it takes the viewer on a rollercoaster story of passion, parenthood and peril.

“I am thrilled that we have assembled such a high calibre cast for Danny’s wonderful scripts,” added Ben Stephenson.

“Dominic and Romola are two remarkable actors at the peak of their careers and it’s hugely exciting to see what they bring to this juicy gripping and complex show alongside their amazing co leads Matthew and Shelley.”

Adultery is a 6 x 60 minute series, created and written by Brocklehurst. Will Sinclair will direct episodes 1-3, and Daniel O’Hara will direct episodes 4-6 with Sarah Lewis as series producer.
