Jermaine Jenas has been dropped from Match of the Day.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player has often been touted as a long term replacement for Gary Lineker.
A BBC spokesperson told Prolific North: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line-up.”
This includes both Match of the Day and The One Show.
According to a story on BBC News, his contract was terminated earlier this week, because of “alleged issues relating to workplace behaviour.”
BBC News is reporting that this followed “allegations involving digital communications such as texts, which were raised with the corporation a few weeks ago.”
When this was first reported, Jenas was presenting Drivetime on talkSport radio. In an interview with the station, he said that he couldn’t really talk about it, adding, “as you can probably see, I am not happy about it.”
“But currently as it stands I’m going to have to let the lawyers deal with it. You know, there’s two sides to every story as we know.
“So that’s all I can say right now.”
A mural which showed the BBC Sport presenting team has been removed from the side of the Quay House at MediaCity.
Jenas is also a presenter on TNT Sports, leading its coverage of the Formula E.
The revelation comes just at the start of the football season and as Match of the Day marks its 60th Anniversary. Earlier this week, The One Show went behind the scenes of the show to film how it was put together.
Jenas last appeared on The One Show on 22nd July and on the MOTD panel in May.
