The Jargon Group has acquired Pelican Communications, the Greater Manchester-based agency focused on sustainability PR and comms for the food, packaging and recycling sectors.

Pelican PR was founded in 1998 by Michael Bennett and boasts a client portfolio including The British Frozen Food Federation, Ylem Energy and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The Jargon Group is an international media, marketing and corporate communications business made up of a number of subsidiary companies and assets owned directly by Simon Corbett. Constituent entities include b2b-focussed Jargon PR and processing, packaging and industrial automation specialist GloHouse Media, which it acquired late last year.

The new partnership will strengthen The Jargon Group, adding ESG capability into the group and extending its presence in Manchester to 12 full-time team members, based in MediaCityUK.

Jargon PR recently celebrated its 13th birthday by reporting revenue for the first six-months of FY 22-23 exceeding £1.5m. The agency expects annual fees to surpass £3million this financial year.

The growth has been accompanied by diversification of office locations throughout the UK, including offices in Cardiff, Manchester, Reading and London, as well as international expansion to offices in New York and Dubai.

Michael Bennett, managing director at Pelican Communications, said: “Joining The Jargon Group means we can expand the reach of our social impact and brand purpose services globally, working with the agency’s international client base and teams in the US and Dubai.”

Kevin Winfield, associate director at Jargon PR, added: “Every business has a role to play in sustainability. The specialist insight and communications capabilities the [Pelican] team brings will continue to allow us to continue to build world-class content and communications strategy services for our clients.”
