Internet of Things and smart technology firm, Connexin, has been awarded a major new contract from Yorkshire Water.
It will be helping to roll out its smart water delivery by installing smart water meters and extending its LoRaWaN network infrastructure. This will enable Yorkshire Water to get “near real-time” data from across its service, in order for it to provide more accurate billing and identify leaks faster.

“We have worked with Connexin extensively over the past year to validate the advantages of using LoRaWAN® technology to provide stable and reliable connectivity for our smart meters while ensuring a battery life in the meters of around 15 years.
“Being able to rely on Connexin’s proven expertise in this area gives us confidence that we can achieve our ambitions to deliver for our customers in the county.”
In the first phase, Connexin will install around 30,000 Itron LoRaWAN® water meters across the Yorkshire region.
Following this, larger rollouts will launch, with Connexin stating that the “significant win” would “solidify” the Connexin-Itron-Yorkshire Water tripartite relationship for a minimum of 15 years.
Last year, Connexin started work with Severn Treaty Water, deploying 150,000 Itron smart water meters, including a LoRaWAN® network across Coventry and Warwickshire.
