Stockport-based ID and security specialist Digital ID, a Levata company, has acquired Connected ID, a leader in networking and enterprise mobility solutions.
With headquarters in Corsham, Wiltshire, and a base in Leicester, Connected ID has built a reputation for delivering cutting-edge handheld devices, mobile computing and wireless network solutions. By integrating this expertise with Digital ID’s market-leading identity and security Solutions, Levata is creating a leading IT products and solutions provider in the UK and Europe that enables businesses to seamlessly identify both people and products faster, smarter, and more securely than ever before.
Digital ID appointed “specialist external cyber and forensic consultants” to investigate and address those incidents, while the latest acquisition is designed to recognise “the natural synergies between Digital ID and Connected ID.”

Levata added that it is now merging two industry leaders, bringing best-in-class identity, authentication, and automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) technologies under one roof, and that the collaboration unlocks new opportunities for customers by offering a single-source, end-to-end solution for identity management and product tracking.
“Connected ID has an outstanding reputation, backed by a highly skilled team and loyal client base,” said Stephen Dodd, commercial director of Digital ID Europe. “This acquisition is a major milestone for us. By combining our expertise, we can deliver an unparalleled suite of Identity, AIDC and Networking solutions, ensuring businesses operate more securely and efficiently. I’m thrilled to welcome Jamie and his team into our growing organization.”
Daniel Nettesheim, CEO of Levata, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition: “Bringing Connected ID into the Levata family rapidly expands our capabilities in the UK and Europe. This is another example of Levata continuing to invest in our networking, network security, data capture, and enterprise mobility capabilities, ensuring we provide world-class solutions for our customers.”
The acquisition boosts Digital ID’s headcount to about 200 employees across five key locations in the UK and Europe, with plans to create 10 new roles in sales, marketing, and support at the company’s Stockport headquarters in the coming year.
Digital ID previously hit the headlines in 2023, when a suspected pair of ransomware attacks led to a data breach affecting several employees of the Metropolitan Police and Greater Manchester Police forces, both of whom were customers of the company.
