Former Neighbours star Jemma Donovan joins cast of Hollyoaks

Jemma Donovan

Cheshire soap Hollyoaks has cast former Neighbours star Jemma Donovan as its latest arrival.

Donovan, daughter of another Neighbours favourite Jason Donovan, will be playing the character Rayne, described as an outgoing party girl who turns heads wherever she goes due to her celebrity status as a social media sensation.

Rayne, who is in her early 20s, will be moving to the village with her childhood best friend, and the producers promise that the pair will cause mischief with the younger residents of Hollyoaks.

Donovan said of her latest role: “I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks! I’m so grateful for this opportunity to be able to bring something unique and fun to a new role and I can’t wait to be a part of the Hollyoaks family.”

Donovan is currently best known for playing ‘psycho’ Harlow Robinson on the long-running Australian soap, which was finally brought to a close earlier this year, for three years. She joins a long list of stars who have left the Neighbours set and headed to the UK to seek their fortune, not least on-screen love team Kylie Minogue and Jemma’s father Jason.

Jason and Jemma have never appeared on screen together to date, but with Jemma now working from Lime Pictures’ Liverpool HQ and her father currently touring Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat around the UK following a successful Blackpool summer run, it may only be a question of time.
