Former LADbible production chief joins Steven Bartlett’s FlightStory

Bryony Hopkins, formerly head of production at LADbible’s LADstudios, has joined Steven Bartlett’s FlightStory as production director for the Founder Storytelling Team.

Hopkins brings a wealth of experience from her stints at LADbible, Strong Watch and Cowshed Collective, as well as several years at the BBC, which she joined as a journalism intern in 2014, ultimately rising to senior producer for BBC News and BBC Three before taking voluntary redundancy in 2021 and teaming up with Manchester-based viral publisher LADbible.

As head of production at LADstudios, Hopkins led a team of 15 producing content in sport, factual and entertainment. She was instrumental in crafting platform-agnostic formats such as Minutes With, Snack Wars and Agree to Disagree.

She said of her move from TV to digital production: “I didn’t know it back then but it turns out live news is the perfect training ground for the speed and reactivity that is required to build large scale production models in the creator economy. And I don’t know who needs to hear this, but amazing things really do happen when you take a leap of faith.”

Following her term at LADbible, Hopkins moved to Cowshed Collective in 2023, where she oversaw shows including The Infiltrators for Channel 4 and Locked In for Foot Asylum. She most recently spent two years as head of production at Hat Trick-backed Strong Watch, where she oversaw production for clients including BBC, Channel 4, 4.0, ITV, Shark Ninja, The Royal Foundation, Pedigree Chum, Tourism Ireland, JD Sport, Sky Vegas, CNN and Have I Got News For You UK, among others.

Announcing the latest move on LinkedIn, Hopkins said: “I am absolutely thrilled to share I’ve joined The Studio @ FLIGHTSTORY as Production Director leading The Founder Storytelling Team. I’ll be working closely with Steven Bartlett and the team to scale Behind The Diary and its impact across all platforms (which will be just the beginning).

“If you’re in the creator economy or digital media, it is impossible to ignore what FLIGHTSTORY are building, how they are innovating and why sweating the small stuff really pays off. In life it is rare to see a role that aligns with your skillset, your ambitions and also your personal interests – and this for me does all three.”
