Former BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Spencer Leigh, who presented On The Beat for the station, is set to release a new book, 80@80, to celebrate his 80th birthday.
The Liverpool author’s new book is a mixture of old and new pieces – 80 of them – including many stories about the background to his music-based interviews.
Leigh will be previewing the book at two events, the first on Wednesday 29th January 2025 at Liverpool Central Library 2.30-4.30pm featuring music from The Good Intentions. Peter Davies from the Good Intentions has written a musical, Under the Mersey Moon, which opens in February at Floral Pavilion, New Brighton. Get a free ticket here.
Next, on Saturday 1st February, Leigh’s actual 80th birthday, he will launch his book in Southport at 2.30pm, with a showing of ‘The Girl Can’t Help It’, starring Little Richard, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and Jayne Mansfield at The Bijou Cinema. Tickets for the film showing are £6.
