Fashion tech startup launches interactive apparel brand

A filmmaker, designer and design engineer have joined forces to launch a new fashion and technology start-up.

SKNTË’s mission is to turn clothing into a “dynamic tool for communication, storytelling and self-expression.”

It’s been founded by filmmaker Marc Grundy from Coolbox Video Studio, designer Simon Painter from SiCoCreative, and design engineer Matt Bayliss from Mattbay.

“At SKNTË we believe clothing should speak, connect, and evolve just like people do,” said co-founder Marc Grundy.

“I grew up in the late 80s and lived both before and after the rise of the internet, so I have always felt those two worlds pulling at me. With SKNTË we are building a bridge between them. It is clothing that is expressive, interactive, and alive.”

Their debut product is a premium t-shirt with a personal QR code printed on the chest pocket, which links to a fully customisable digital dashboard. Here the wearer can change where the QR code links to.

SKNTË explained that this was part of their philosophy of connecting the “online self and the real-world self.”

The company has just been accepted into the newest cohort at Exchange at Campfield.
