Leeds-based Sky Betting and Gaming has appointed Rob Painter as its new marketing director.
Painter has previously spent 15 years in the newspaper industry with News International, during which time he held the roles of marketing director at The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times.
He left The Sun last month and at the time it was not known whether he had another job to go to.
In his new role, he will be responsible for Sky Betting and Gaming’s marketing strategy across all media channels.
He replaces Ted Moss, who has taken a new position within Sky as brand director for premium products, including Sky Sports and Sky Movies.
He said: “Having worked for one of the world’s leading media companies for many years, I wanted to find a new and exciting professional challenge, which I feel Sky Betting and Gaming can offer me.
“Sky Betting and Gaming is reputed to be one of the best companies to work for in the industry and the teams are truly passionate about growing the business to its full potential. I’m really looking forward to working with the Sky Betting and Gaming team in Leeds to continue to grow the awareness and reputation of the brand.”
Richard Flint, managing director of Sky Betting and Gaming, said: “Sky Betting and Gaming has developed hugely over the last year and this rapid expansion makes it the perfect time for Rob to come on board. He’s a highly skilled individual in the field of marketing and we feel his appointment will be hugely beneficial to the further progression of the business.”
Sky Betting and Gaming consists of four core brands: Sky Bet, Sky Vegas, Sky Poker and Sky Bingo. It also also encompasses SportingLife.com and Oddschecker.
