Online household goods retailer PerfectHome has recruited a mobile app expert in a further move to digitise its business.
Bryn Evans, former product owner at William Hill, will be responsible for building the rent-to-own firm’s first mobile app, which will enable customers to manage payments, buy products and access their accounts remotely.
Evans previously worked alongside more than 100 product owners at William Hill, and will now be solely responsible for PerfectHome’s app development from the firm’s Leeds office.
He said: “PerfectHome is a smaller operation than William Hill, but it’s really exciting for me personally because I’m going to be building the app from inception. I’m getting involved right at the beginning and I think it will be a great journey going forward.”
While the development of an app has been planned for a while, the pandemic had given it increased urgency.
Future plans include personalising customer experience and introducing augmented reality.
Andy Russell, CEO of PerfectHome, said: “This is a very natural step for us after making the big move from high-street stores to online-only retailer.
“Bryn brings a wealth of experience with him to PerfectHome and will perform a key role in the future of the business and the service we provide to our customers.”
Bryn added: “My experience at PerfectHome has already been fantastic. Everyone is working closely together and passionate about what they do. It’s a really positive environment and I can see working here is going to be an absolute pleasure.”
Three years ago PerfectHome was bought out of administration by Brixworth Investments, an affiliate of hedge fund Elliott Advisors.
