Eight startups chosen from 400 applicants for Baltic Ventures’ ‘most competitive’ accelerator ever

Eight early-stage technology companies have been selected from 400 applications for Baltic Ventures’ most competitive accelerator programme to date.

Four of the businesses joining the Liverpool-based venture platform’s Accelerator 2026 cohort are based in the Liverpool City Region.

The companies span AI, energy, health and property technology, with each receiving an initial £25,000 equity investment through an Advanced Subscription Agreement from the Baltic Ventures Angel Syndicate. Selected businesses will also be eligible for follow-on investment of up to £75,000.

The eight companies are:

  • Tuteliq, founded by Dr Nicola Harding, Gabriel Sabadin and Anna Unander, has developed behavioural detection technology designed to identify grooming and online harm across conversation sequences.
  • TOGL Energy, founded by Will Maden and co-founders, provides fleet energy orchestration intended to reduce the cost of operating electric heavy goods vehicles.
  • PickedUP, founded by Sam Durrani and Ryan Kelly, offers an AI voice receptionist for UK SMEs that handles inbound calls, books appointments and routes leads around the clock.
  • Planaroo, founded by Shaun Callacher and Darren Galvin, produces AI-generated property-potential reports for estate agents using title and planning data.
  • Morvo, founded by Robert Stein, has created an AI-powered personalised shopping layer that replaces generic product grids with individual customer intelligence.
  • CalCoach, founded by Jack Slinn and Mike Fort, is an AI nutrition coaching platform for personal coaches and their clients.
  • EPro, founded by Rasheed Ahmad, is an AI compliance platform that automates legal and regulatory obligations for social housing providers.
  • InnerMe, founded by Matthew Maloney, is a functional blood-testing platform providing clinical-grade personalised health recommendations.

Alongside the investment, each company will join a programme valued at £40,000. It includes coaching from exited founders and operators, investor dinners in Liverpool and London, a visit to Slush Helsinki and access to more than £100,000 in technology credits.

Mo Aldalou, Programme Director at Baltic Ventures, said: “Every year I say the process was our most competitive yet, but 2026 genuinely felt different. We had more applications than we’ve ever received, and the standard across the board was higher than anything we’ve seen before.

“Our selection process gets harder every year and what made it difficult was the quality, not the quantity, which is a good problem to have. We’ve chosen to back eight excellent founding teams who understand their markets deeply and are ready to move and scale. Our job now is to make sure they don’t have to figure out the hard stuff alone.”

Accelerator 2026 began in Liverpool on September 7 and will run through weekly sessions until Demo Day at Boxpark Liverpool on November 26.

The programme also includes a trip to Slush Helsinki on November 19 and 20, followed by a London investor dinner in February 2027.

Based in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, Baltic Ventures has backed 65 companies since 2023. Those businesses have collectively raised £15.2m.
