The owners of Duck Soup Films have announced that they’re to stop active content development and production from January.
The Leeds production company is behind BBC One’s Lost Boys & Fairies, which received numerous awards, including 2 BAFTA nominations and 5 wins at BAFTA Cymru. It’s also shortlisted for Best Single Drama / Mini Series at the International Emmys.
They were also working on Dreamers and Dance School for Channel 4.

In a joint statement, founders, Libby Durdy, Jessica Brown-Meek and Bekki Wray-Rogers said:
“Maintaining an indie focused on bold, authored content in today’s climate is increasingly untenable for a small company like ours.
“We simply don’t have the resources to sustain our work as producers developing in-house at the level we aspire to, and the market will no longer support it.”
They said they would cease active development and production from January, but would continue to manage and oversee their existing IP, adding that they were now in the process of finding “suitable homes” for their existing slate of television and film projects.
The trio had previously worked on This Is England and Utopia before setting up the indie.
In 2017, Freemantle bought 25% of the indie and 4 years later it was named on Channel 4’s Indie Growth Fund, which meant the broadcaster took a minority stake to help grow its business.
