Dock10 was named Best Post Production House at the Broadcast Awards in London last night.

It was shortlisted against post houses including Envy, Halo, Molinare and Splice in the category, with judges saying they were “impressed by the variety of projects – especially the VR studio for Match Of The Day.”

Other Northern winners included Lime Pictures’ Hollyoaks, which was named Best Soap or Continuing Drama.

Programme-makers were praised for tackling a number of tricky topics, including far-right extremism.

Special Recognition went to Kay Mellor, described as “one of the most influential dramatic voices, chronicling modern Britain often through the prism of working-class women.”

The Leeds-writer is behind shows including Band Of Gold, Fat Friends, The Syndicate and In the Club.

She started out writing on soaps, including Coronation Street and Brookside, before 1995’s break-out hit, Band of Gold for ITV.

Recently she set up The Kay Mellor Fellowship alongside the Leeds Playhouse, in order to discover new writing talent.
