Disney and Pixar take over Manchester trams ahead of Hoppers cinema releases

Disney and Pixar are inviting everyone to hop on board Manchester’s iconic yellow trams and follow the characters of the upcoming animated movie Hoppers, in UK cinemas from 6th March.

From today, Manchester will be buzzing with the joyful energy of Hoppers’ adorable talking animals, in a city-wide take over that will involve Hoppers-themed trams, a character trail, posters, voiceovers at tram stops, and an immersive photo opportunity at the Exchange Square.

Fran Wilkinson, head of customer and growth at Transport for Greater Manchester, said, “The Bee Network is all about connecting people and places, a sentiment that is at the heart of Hoppers, so collaborating with Disney and Pixar on the UK launch of the movie felt like a natural fit. We are delighted to be able to showcase our network while bringing something genuinely exciting to our passengers.”

The four-legged protagonists of Disney and Pixar’s new movie will be popping up at tram stops across the Bee Network, and surprised commuters will hear tram announcements featuring the familiar voice of Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, The Secret Lives of Pets, Inside Out 2) as the charismatic beaver, King George.

As part of the trail, families and kids are also invited to stop for a photo opportunity at the Exchange Square tram stop, which will be transformed into an immersive woodland area for 48 hours, on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th February.

In Disney and Pixar’s all-new animated comedy adventure Hoppers, animal-lover Mabel seizes an opportunity to use a new technology to “hop” her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver and communicate directly with animals. Mabel meets and befriends creatures great and small at the pond, and it’s these very friends that will be appearing in Manchester for February half term.

Explore the dam-tastic Hoppers take over from today (16 Feb) – the character trail runs until 1 March, trams stops with voice overs will operate from the 17th-19th February, and the photo opportunity at Exchange Square will be from 18-19 February. Character trail locations are at

Exchange Square, Market Street, Shudehill, Saint Peter’s Square and Victoria Metrolink stations. Hoppers releases in the UK on 6 March.
