Digital Sport North lands sponsorship from Leeds commercial law firm

Digital Sport North (DSN) has announced a new strategic partnership and sponsorship deal with Leeds commercial law firm, Walker Morris.

DSN is a thriving, and expanding, community for entrepreneurial start-ups and businesses, and for showcasing cutting-edge technology at the intersection of the digital, sports and marketing spheres.

The organisation was established in Leeds in April 2022 by Rob Powell and Andy Roberts and since inception has seen a 300 per cent membership increase. It currently runs six annual sector events and is looking to expand in future.

The overarching aims behind Digital Sport North are to give those involved opportunities to drive connections, collaborate and find successful careers within digital sport in the North. Alongside this, the group wants to inspire the next generation of leaders in the sector and create more vocational opportunities.

Following a relatively short four-month consultation period, Walker Morris has now signed on as a sponsor and has already introduced some new contacts within sports and tech into the community.

It’s also believed that this latest sponsorship will significantly support the founders’ shared ambitions for the group and lead to further, similar opportunities and partnerships with other businesses.

DSN co-founder Rob Powell said: “The sponsorship from Walker Morris will undoubtedly help us continue to grow this community and help fund further events. With their HQ so close to ours in Leeds, plus their own specialism and widespread connections within sports and the tech division, it’s a very good fit for us.

“We’re delighted the Walker Morris team has already got involved with some of our recent events and that they have expressed how keen they are to support us with something that helps grow the sector in the north.”

Luke Jackson, commercial director from Walker Morris, added: “We’ve been incredibly impressed by the quality of Digital Sport North events to date and are looking forward to seeing the community that Rob, Andy and the team have built continue to grow.

“This is a sector that we are truly invested in and passionate about and are thrilled to be able to support its growth over the next 12 months.”

In the long term, Digital Sport North team hopes this will be one of many partnerships to help grow its community and increase the size of its event calendar. Those wishing to get involved should note that any business, entrepreneur or individual that has a connection to sport or leisure activities, or works via digital channels or technologies is welcome to get involved.

Digital Sport North’s next event ‘Can Tech Be the Catalyst for Growth in Women’s Sport?’ takes place on September 19 at Leeds’ The Wardrobe and promises an all-female panel of experts led by sports journalist and presenter Tanya Arnold. Attendance is free and can be booked via the Digital Sport North website. https://www.digitalsportnorth.com/events
