Digital City Expo is back live in Manchester today with thousands attending the event at Manchester Central

Expo 2022

Digital City Expo, the two-day event, showcasing the entire digital sector, is back live now at Manchester Central.

Across Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th March, a host of industry leaders and over 70 exhibitors, over 100 speakers at more than 65 sessions will be at the event.

They will delve into tech, ecommerce, marketing and media, as the digital community unites once again.

Chris Philp, the Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy, was one of the first speakers to deliver a Keynote speech at the expo this morning with many more set to take place over the next two days.

Before championing how the UK has a “booming technology and digital sector”, he mentioned the current events unfolding in Ukraine amid its invasion by Russia.

He highlighted that there has been an increase in cybersecurity threats and encouraged tech firms to be “extra vigilant”, adding that the risk is “higher now” than it ever has been before.

The “hugely successful” tech sector is critical to growth, he said, pointing to the 37 tech IPOs last year. It is “really important” with tech sector success that it spreads right the way across the UK, he explained.

He congratulated the audience for the work they are doing in the tech and digital world while adding that the conference should be a huge “success”.

You can take a look at the full agenda for all the events taking place today and tomorrow here.

Digital City Expo is the main event being held as part of Digital City Festival, which is now underway until March 11th to connect the global digital sector for a week of events across Greater Manchester.

Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, was also spotted at Digital City Expo this morning. On Monday, he appeared at the launch of Digital City Festival at the offices of HOST in MediaCity.

From an all-day DJ, opportunities to network at the central bar and dedicated Career Zone, as well as an exciting line-up of thought-leaders, panel sessions and masterclasses – it’s not one event not to be missed this year.
