Dentsu, Octopus and NatWest sign up to Generation C’s climate mission

Manchester-based Generation C is working in partnership with Octopus, Dentsu and NatWest to create practical and engaging resources for schools to improve education and green skills – inspiring children to become the next generation of talents and grow the green economy.

The company is also planning a summit in Manchester dedicated to changing the future of climate change. 

Founders Phil Wharton and Ivor Tucker created Generation C to help tackle the shortage of educational resources for climate change in schools. Their mission is to work with recognisable companies across the UK and use their stories to inspire children in schools to plug the impending climate change skills shortage and become innovators in the field.

Right now, says Generation C, the education system is failing young people. They lack the resources, knowledge and expertise needed to inspire future generations of change-makers, dedicated to fighting and reversing climate change.

Having now secured key partnerships with NatWest, Octopus and Dentsu, the Generation C Founders will host the Manchester event on July 12, focussing on the important ways big companies can change the future of climate change education in schools and change the lives of the next generation, with more events planned nationally.

“We are incredibly excited about [the Manchester event] on 12th July with our partners dentsu, octopus energy and NatWest as the first, which took place at the Royal Institution in London, was so well received, and this is the second of eight regional events planned over the next 12 months,” said co-founder Wharton.

“We are confident that not only will the event facilitate a proactive conversation between a good cross-section of society, especially schools and businesses, but we expect some real learnings and actions to come from it, which will drive the conversation forward and provide the solutions we need to get children at both primary and secondary level inspired and engaged about the vast opportunities available to them with some of the largest and most innovative businesses in the UK.”

Generation C hopes to bring together leading companies’ CEOs, executives, sustainability specialists, climate experts, local government officials and policymakers from across Manchester, for their July meet. Confirmed attendees so far include CO-OP Academies Trust, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, PlanetMark, Princes Trust, HAYS, Brabners, Laing O’Rourke, Suez and E.ON.

The event will be “packed with workshops, informative discussions, and the opportunity to network with other forward-thinking companies,” says Generation C. Attendees will also hear from key partners, NatWest, Octopus, Dentsu and the founders of Generation C and hopefully take away vital information, tools and techniques to truly make a difference in the climate change crisis.
