The Women of the Year Awards in London have appointed Democracy PR to “super-charge” awareness of the annual awards.
Set up in 1955, previous winners include The Lionesses, Jane Byam Shaw OBE and Ebony Rainford-Brent MBE.
The Manchester agency, which recently opened an office in the capital, will work on the nominations, right through to the awards themselves at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.
“From drama teachers to lollypop ladies, biochemists to philanthropists, this project is an exciting opportunity to tell emotive stories about everyday extraordinary women to a regional and national audience,” explained Rhona Templer, Managing Director of Democracy, London.
“We have decades of storytelling experience and, combined with our expansion into London, we are ready to help this amazing event gain the exposure it deserves.”

Strictly invitation only, each guest is nominated and selected in recognition of their personal contribution to society.
The agency’s 7 month project will create case studies and seek to secure coverage across print, broadcast and online to help attract further sponsorship. On the day itself it will handle red carpet, media and content.
“We were really impressed by the team at Democracy PR from the very first call. They immediately understood our challenges and saw the potential. They have been very proactive and impressive from the start,” explained Diane Kenwood, Chair of Women of the Year.
“I’m completely confident that their team of ex-national news journalists and specialists in content creation will support us well and I’m really looking forward to working with them.”
