Cue Podcasts has launched its first original production, Anatomy of a Stalker, a five-part Crime+Investigation Original Podcast investigating what makes stalkers who they are.
Anatomy of a Stalker is hosted by Ruchira Sharma, a freelance journalist, presenter, and podcaster. Having previously written for The Guardian, BBC, and VICE, the narrative series sees her embark on a journey inside the mind of a stalker by looking at their characteristics, motivations, and prospects of rehabilitation.
Joining her are a whole range of survivors and experts, including barrister Grace Rose Gwynne, forensic psychologist Dr Rachael Wheatley, and clinical psychologist Dr Alan Underwood, each bringing their own experiences and expertise to the table. And just maybe, hear from the stalker themselves.
The first episode sets out to discover what stalking actually is and delves into the five typologies of stalking: rejected, intimacy seeking, incompetent, resentful, and predatory. Further episodes explore the impact of stalking, the realities and shortfalls of the law and police response, current interventions and approaches taken to those who stalk, and more.
Available on all major listening platforms including Apple Podcast and Spotify, the first two episodes will be released January 16, with further episodes dropping weekly.
Anatomy of a Stalker is produced by Cue Podcasts, a UK-based production company specialising in branded podcasts. The team at Cue has previously produced shows for SailGP, Azets, West Midlands Trains, the Centre for Public Impact, Roc Nation, Samsung, Halifax, and more.
Ruchira Sharma, host of Anatomy of a Stalker said: “Hosting and leading Anatomy of a Stalker has been a privilege. Despite being a challenging and often haunting journey into parts of society many of us would rather ignore, our shared goal was to shine a light on this crime and offer tangible suggestions for real change, by uncovering more about the people who stalk. I feel extremely proud to have worked on this investigation.”
Niall Killeney-Taylor, head of production at Cue Podcasts added: “I’m incredibly proud of our latest project, Anatomy of a Stalker. This groundbreaking series, commissioned by A+E Networks EMEA, represents a significant milestone for us. It’s a deep and thought-provoking exploration into the complex world of stalking – an issue that often remains shrouded in mystery and taboo.
“Our team’s dedication and skill have been instrumental in bringing this project to life. With the exceptional Ruchira Sharma at the helm, our narrative dives into the psyche of stalkers, shedding light on their characteristics and motivations. Not to mention our diverse range of contributors, which offer a rich and multifaceted perspective on this serious crime.”
