Cheshire residents seeking help to improve their mental wellbeing will be able to access extra support from the NHS via a doctor-approved self-help app with valuable information about key local services.
East Warrington Primary Care Network has partnered with My Possible Self to launch a fully customised version of the award-winning mental health and wellness app for patients in the East Warrington locality.
My Possible Self helps people manage anxiety, tackle depression, ease stress and improve sleep by providing clinically certified interactive tools and coping strategies based on cognitive behavioural therapy.
My Possible Self is among the top ranked mental health apps in the UK. This is the first time the app has partnered with a primary care network, which is a group of GP practices that work together to deliver NHS services at scale.
Working with East Warrington Primary Care Network, My Possible Self has customised the app with an overview of the Primary Care Network and details of the health and wellbeing team, information on how to self-refer to key local services and a crisis button linked to Mersey Care which provides a local crisis helpline.
The new service went is live now and is available for NHS patients registered at the Birchwood, Fearnhead Cross and Padgate Medical Centres, which are part of the East Warrington Primary Care Network.
Joanne Wilkinson, founder of My Possible Self, said: “When people experience stress, anxiety and depression, it can be difficult to know where to turn for help. Now they can access a new level of support, thanks to our partnership with East Warrington Primary Care Network.
“My Possible Self is available around the clock to help people take care of themselves, find out about key local services and get in touch with the health and wellbeing team when they need extra support from the NHS.”
Dr Rakhi Raj, clinical director for East Warrington Primary Care Network, said: “We were keen to explore a digital offer for our local population, providing them with tools and resources to allow them to manage their mental wellbeing in a way that suits them. My Possible Self provided us with a platform to do this and customise the app to include local information that patients can self-refer to.”
My Possible Self is based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and has won a number of awards, most recently best mental health app in the GLAMOUR Wellness Power List 2022 and 2023. Its latest version, launched earlier this year with a more personalised experience for users, continues to add new content to the app including sleep stories and sounds, breathing exercises, distraction tools, fun things to watch, music, meditation and exercise sessions.
