Channel 4 has appointed David Wigglesworth as its Executive Creative Director and Creative Partner of 4creative.
He joins from Grey London, where he’s been Executive Creative Director for the last 2 years. Prior to that he held senior roles at Sony Music, St Lukes, Mcgarrybowen & Fallon London.
He will take over from Lynsey Atkin who stepped down from her role as Executive Creative Director last month.
“As a kid who spent their waking life one foot away from a TV screen, Channel 4 was special,” he explained.
“Hollyoaks coached me through puberty, Beavis & Butt-head blew my tiny mind and Brass Eye opened my eyes to satire. In my career, I’ve always admired 4creative, setting the bar impossibly high with years of groundbreaking work. Creative me (and kid me) are excited AF at this opportunity. I can’t wait to team up with the enigmatic Katie and her team of renegades, to keep the hits coming for 4creative.”
In the expanded role, he’ll focus on 4creative, but in parallel, he’ll look across the business bring the “Altogether Different spirit of the Channel 4 brand to life in new and innovative ways.”
This will see him work alongside the newly promoted Director of 4creative Miketta Lane to take joint responsibility for leading and growing the agency. His role will be to oversee all creative output and he’ll be responsible for driving and delivering “agenda-setting and ground-breaking work” inspired by Channel 4’s unique remit.
Both Lane and Wigglesworth will report to Chief Marketing Officer Katie Jackson.
“After I first met David, I couldn’t stop thinking about our conversation,” said Jackson.
“He pushes limits, revels in creative chaos and really really loves TV. His work is innovative, energetic and boundless, awarded at every major international award show including D&AD, Cannes and the One Show. I’m delighted he is coming to join us at 4 and can’t wait to see what rules we can break together.”
He will take up the role in January.
