BBC Radio 6 Music has revealed details of a streamlined weekend schedule to ensure the safety of presenters and production staff at its MediaCityUK base.

Chris Hawkins is now presenting an extended Early Weekend Breakfast show from 5am-8am on both Saturday and Sunday.

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie will broadcast from 8am-11am on Saturdays and Sundays.

On Saturdays, Huey Morgan will present from 11am-2pm, with Gilles Peterson broadcasting an extended show from 2pm-6pm. On Sundays, Cerys Matthews’ show (which was presented last weekend by Mary Anne Hobbs) will air from 11am-2pm.

The Sunday Special programme will continue to feature in the network’s weekend schedule at a later time of 2pm-3pm, with Guy Garvey on air from 3-6pm.

Between 6pm-8pm, Tom Robinson will curate listeners’ choices in Now Playing. Liz Kershaw (Saturdays, 1pm-3pm) and Amy Lamé’s (Sundays, 4pm-6pm) programmes will not be broadcast at the moment.

Samantha Moy, Head of Content Commissioning, 6 Music, said: “I know BBC Radio 6 Music plays an important part in our listener’s daily lives and these changes will allow 6 Music to continue to provide entertainment and a familiar voice to our audience at this challenging time, whilst prioritising the health and safety of presenters and production staff.

“We look forward to welcoming Liz Kershaw and Amy Lamé back to BBC Radio 6 Music very soon. In the mean time you can listen to their recent brilliant shows on BBC Sounds.”
