Manchester-based Blakeway North has won the international Prix Jeunesse for non-fiction television (11-15).
It’s the latest acclaim for My Life – Born to Vlog, which is presented by Nikki Lilly. It’s already been shortlisted for a Bafta and picked up an RTS Award.
The programme followed (the then) 12-year-old Nikki, who has to fly to the United States every other month, for complex surgery for Arteriovenous Malformation.
Shot over 6 months, it mixes ob-doc style filming, with her own video diaries and vlogs.
Since the show, she’s worked again with Blakeway on Nikki Lilly Meets, a 20-part series where she interviews everyone from the Prime minister to Nicole Scherzinger.
