The Beatles’ cover of the Buddy Holly track, Words of Love, has been transformed into a music video by Passion Pictures.

It’s to promote the album, On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2, which features 63 remastered and many unreleased tracks, recorded at the BBC between 1963 and 1964.

The video is a collaboration between Passion Pictures’ creative director, Pete Candeland and directors Giles Dill and Lee Gingold. It merges animation and archive footage dating from 1963 – the year the band broke through and also features material shot by Richard Lester for A Hard Day’s Night.

“After listening to the album, the song that really stood out for us was the cover of Buddy Holly’s Words of Love,” explained Passion’s executive producer, Belinda Blacklock.

”We felt that this song really helped us tell the story of the rise of The Beatles, and we tried to use that contagious energy from the album for our music video.”

Candeland directed the films for The Beatles: Rock Band game by Harmonix.
