The BBC is to hold a series of “red carpet premieres” in towns and cities across the North of England, this Christmas.
The country’s only mobile cinema will set off from Carlisle, before heading to Lancashire and the North East. It will then drive over to Yorkshire and welcome 2017 in Hull as the city begins its year as City of Culture.
Content will be tailored to each location, with previews of The Worst Witch, Call The Midwife, Citizen Khan, Revolting Rhymes and To Walk Invisible.
“We can’t wait to hit the road and bring this wonderful seasonal programming direct to audiences in such a unique way. The cinema will be in highly accessible locations near shopping areas and a couple of coastal locations so we hope members of the public will join us to take a welcome time-out from the cold weather and the running around that Christmas and the New Year often involves to enjoy some exclusive BBC content,” said Pat Connor, head of Ddevelopment and events, at BBC England.
The 100 seat touring cinema will begin its travels on 20th December in Carlisle.
