Cloud comms, contact, cyber & mobile business Babble has acquired Wakefield-based, independent technology provider Yorkshire Telecom and its subsidiary Biscuit IT.

Babble has completed 19 transactions since 2018, and four already this year. This aggressive record led to ICON Corporate Finance recognising Babble as the UK’s most acquisitive technology company in 2020. It provides cloud services to over 10,000 organisations in a wide range of sectors including financial, health and education, travel, accommodation and the public service.

Its growth over the last few years, assisted by private equity investment from the likes of Graphite Capital, LDC and its own management, has taken annual revenue to £60m – over 90 per cent of which is recurring. It has over 50,000 cloud-based users, 65,000 mobile connections and 5,000 CCaaS supported agents.

Babble now has a presence across Scotland, the North-West, Yorkshire, North-East, the Midlands, the South and London. Babble’s mission is to provide the personal service of a local provider with all the benefits of a national organisation.

Yorkshire Telecom serves 390 customers across the North of England in a range of sectors and its team will now join Babble. Phill Burke, Yorkshire Telecom managing director, will remain in a consultancy capacity to ensure a smooth transition.
