Asda has appointed its first Chief Digital Officer, as it seeks to become the UK’s second largest grocery retailer.
It’s headed down the road to Bradford-based Morrisons, to hire its Chief Information Officer, Matt Kelleher.
Kelleher, who’ll join Asda in July will be responsible for all of the supermarket’s data and ecommerce functions and will also lead on all technology, once its tech transformation project, “Future” is complete.
Asda said it wanted to continue to evolve how it used data to improve its customer offer.
Kelleher will join Asda’s existing Executive leadership team led by co-owner Mohsin Issa.
“This is an incredibly exciting time to be part of Asda as our business grows and develops for the benefit of our customers,” said Issa.
“Our use of data and technology transformation is a critical element of our ongoing transformation and I am delighted that we continue to attract new talent and skills as we progress this important work.”
