Yorkshire Post has appointed Chris Burn as its new Political Editor, following Rob Parsons’ move to The Northern Agenda.

Burn has been at the paper for almost 5 years, with more than 3 of those as Assistant Features Editor.

Prior to that he was Senior Reporter at Sheffield’s The Star and Chief Reporter at the Shropshire Star and Shrewsbury Chronicle.

“Those who are familiar with Chris' work will appreciate how thrilled I am that he will be leading our political journalism. Yorkshire - and the North - is lucky to have him,” said Editor, James Mitchinson.

Burn wrote on Twitter that he was “excited (and slightly nervous!).

“Going to massively miss working with the brilliant team in the features department but really looking forward to the new challenge.”

He takes up the role on August 20th.

The paper’s former Political Editor, Rob Parsons was named Editor of Reach’s political and public affairs outlet, The Northern Agenda last month.
