Sinead Rocks the BBC’s Director of Education, has been appointed as the new Managing Director, Nations & Regions for Channel 4.

Her role will be to lead the delivery of the channel’s “All The UK strategy” and head up its National HQ in Leeds.

Reporting directly to Chief Commercial Officer, Jonathan Allan, Rocks will form a Nations and Regions senior team and will also work closely with Commissioning Teams, the Indie Growth Fund and 4Talent to develop relationships and opportunities outside of London.

“It’s a really exciting time to be joining Channel 4. Their Nations and Regions strategy is ambitious and compelling and I’m delighted that I’ll get to play a key role in bringing it to life and to work with the amazing talent that exists right across the UK,” she said.

Rocks has been at the BBC since the start of career, originally in Northern Ireland, before working on the launch of CBBC with BBC Children’s. The former editor of Newsround has also been Executive Producer of BBC Current Affairs Manchester.

She’s been Director of Education since 2016, based at MediaCityUK. She was also involved in the BBC’s move to the North West, migrating the BBC Learning department.

“Sinead has an impressive track record of creative and organisational leadership, as well as a huge amount of experience of relocation through being part of the BBC’s move to MediaCityUK,” added Jonathan Allan.

“I’m thrilled she’s agreed to join Channel 4 as our new Managing Director, Nations & Regions and I know she’ll be a powerful advocate for our staff, new talent and the production sector outside of London.”
