Andrew Flintoff documentary and Welcome to Wrexham head to Disney+ this Spring

Disney+ has confirmed details for two North West sports documentaries which head to the streaming service in April and May.

The first is Flintoff, a 90-minute access documentary about England and Lancashire cricketer and presenter, Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff.

Produced by South Shore, it will look back on his life and cricketing career, which saw him win 2 Ashes series and become a national sporting hero. Following his retirement from cricket, he moved into presenting, with high profile series, including Top Gear. But in 2022 he suffered a life-altering crash and decided to return to the sport where he made his name.

“Cricket’s always been a massive part of my life, shaping who I am,” he said.

“Looking back on the highs and the lows, including the challenges I’ve faced since my accident, has been a real reminder of why my career in the sport has meant so much.”

John Dower (Thrilla in Manila, Lockerbie and Once in a Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos) directs the 90 minute film, for South Shore, which is behind Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams, Freddie Flintoff: Living with Bulimia and Don’t Rock the Boat, which he also presented.

With injuries, fan calls for new signings and a glimpse of Championship football, the pressure is on for an unprecedented third straight promotion.
